About Dr, Bovelle

Dr. Renee Bovelle, a board certified ophthalmologist has impeccable qualifications.  She comes to the D.C. Metropolitan area from Louisiana State University where she was an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology. While at Louisiana State University, where the first excimer laser surgery was performed, Dr. Bovelle completed a Cornea and Refractive Fellowship under the personal guidance of Dr. Herbert Kaufman, one of the world's leading corneal and refractive surgeons.

Dr. Bovelle did her residency at the prestigious Yale University where she served as Chief Resident. She completed her medical internship at a Johns Hopkins affiliated hospital and her medical school training at the well-known UCLA-Drew School of Medicine. Dr. Bovelle earned her bachelors degree from the academically selective Wellesley College. Dr. Bovelle has performed refractive surgery since 1996 and cataract surgery since 1993.  Her Ophthalmology background includes a wealth of scientific and clinical training. Dr. Bovelle has performed clinical research on the constantly evolving devices used in modern refractive surgery. She has published nationally and internationally and has lectured nationally to other ophthalmologists. Dr. Bovelle has worked internationally, taught medical students and residents and worked at the National Institutes of Health.

Dr. Bovelle has performed thousands of laser, ophthalmic, cataract and LASIK procedures.  Her impressive credentials, excellent surgical techniques and results have earned her patients’ respect and trust. Furthermore, it is her kind bedside manner and careful attention to the needs of each patient that have allowed Dr. Bovelle to individualize the treatment and care of each patient.
